Challege Course
The challenge course is a combination of mental and physical challenges requiring groups to work as a team to accomplish goals. Through a series of fun and unusual activities, participants learn valuable information about themselves, each other, and the group as a unit. By removing people from their usual environment and placing them in a new, unique setting, a challenge course experience fosters shared learning, openness, and cooperation. We have had some great feedback on the challenge course so far and hope that you are as excited too! Friends of Golden Pond sets out to build eleven different elements throughout the course area, each with a different objective and learning.
Here is a sneak peek at three different elements of eleven that we are planning to build in the challenge course area.
1. Swinging Log – Individuals walking this log are attempting to walk across without falling off. Groups attempting this challenge will be faced with having everyone stand on the swinging log together without falling off with a certain set time frame. The challenge helps improve balance, effective communication, and teamwork.
2. Pivot Platform – This challenge is for the entire group to stand on and balance for ten seconds with no hands touching the platform and no one falling off. This obstacle helps the group focus on being successful together and working together within the group and encourages effective communication.
3. Track Walk – The goal of this challenge is to get the entire team across the beams without falling off or touching the beams with hands. One participant falling off would require the entire team to start over! This obstacle will help improve balance, teamwork and facing fear.
We hope that you will share in our excitement and help us continue to create a place that fosters fun and educational experiences in the outdoors in our own local community at Golden Pond!! Help us build the challenge course by donating.
